Socks Buns Turned Sock Balls

Believe me...I rock a sock bun like it's my job. It's the ultimate second day hair move or in my case the ultimate lazy/I woke up late/I wanted 10 more minutes of sleep move. However, I have been wanting to spice up the typical sock bun. So, I took the beige sock bun that I made and squished it together making more of a little donut hole (unfortunately not of the Krispy Kreme descent). After scrunching the sock bun into a knot/ball, I wrapped a similarly colored hair tie around it, securing the ball shape. I place my hair in a bun, resting the sock ball above the pony. I then wrapped the hair hanging from the pony around the sock ball and secured that with another beige hair tie. Voila - a funkier sock bun. Looks fancier than it is - just how I like it.

Sock Bun: Part Deux

With the help of perfectly matched clip-in hair extensions, I'm able to do this more elegant version of a sock bun. I converted from an actual sock bun made from a light beige sock to a Conair Sock Bun Maker (available at Target). To get this look: 1) Put hair in pony tail 2) Place bun maker around pony tail, at the base (hair should be through hole of bun maker) 3) Spread hair from pony tail over bun maker, covering evenly so that the bun maker isn't visible 4) Wrap a hair tie around bun maker so that hair is still covering all of it 5) Take the hair that is sticking out from the bun and start wrapping it around bun 6) Use bobby pins to pin hair while you're wrapping it around to hold it in place 7) Voila! Fancy bun that takes less than 5 minutes to do and looks fabulous!

Wonder Waves

Long for hair like the Kardashians? I do. Daily. Daydreaming about waves like Kourtney's? I do. Everyday.
Here is my only tip besides considering serious extensions...make sure you are curling your hair away from your face.

Second Day Hair: Part 1

Since we have all learned by now it isn't fabulous for your hair to wash it everyday, it's time to learn how to work that second day hair the right way. Here we have a messy horse show bun. What will you need for this look? Hairspray. Comb. Bobby pins. Don't be afraid to tease your hair...this look won't be pulled off the same without the height, honey. Also, make sure to not make the bun too neat and tidy. A little messy makes this what it is.

How to Wear Day Two Hair

Our hair stylists tell us not to wash our hair everyday. So...what's a girl to do with her second day hair? Braids, buns, ponies and bobby pins are your best friends, girlfriend. I love this messy braid - totally perfect for less-than-clean hair. To refresh before styling and braiding, try dry shampoo.

Streaks of Sass

As I mentioned, I've been trying out my new hair chalk by doing a few subtle streaks. Last week was purple and hot pink. This week is burnt orange and brown which mixes pretty well with my blonde locks. Applying the hair chalk only takes about 3 minutes. My hair chalk is by Masters Pastel and is available on eBay.

Chalk it Up to (Temporary) Change

I get lost in this hair funk every now and then...I'm trying to grow my hair out and I'm happy with my color but I just need a little change to spice it up. After doing a little research, I decided hair chalk might be just what I need to try. I found a set of 24 colors on eBay and made the purchase. I feel like Picaso with a lovely canvas of blonde hair to paint. I haven't gone extreme yet...just a streak of purple here or there. What's genius about hair chalk is that it washes out in the shower, making this the perfect solution to impulsive hair desires. Try a dramatic ponytail like Lauren Conrad...mama likes. Back to Basics with Braids

If you are like me and always running late in the morning, braids and buns can be your best friends. When I wake up with crazy bed head or am in a rush, I always opt for a bun. Every now and then, I spice it up with a french braid, framing my face. It's such an elementary skill but always gets me compliments. If you are taking your hair stylist's advice and trying not to wash your hair daily, this is a great way to wear second day hair. Keeping your hair healthy and rock a new style...check and check.

Don't Boo the Bouffant, Honey

If you ask me, big never went out of style. I, personally, have been carrying the same pick in my purse for the past 7 years. But let me hit you with this...bouffants are back, babe. I'm not talking Amy Winehouse hair. Lord only know what she had up in that beehive. I'm thinking more of a vintage icon like Sophia Loren. Va-voom.

Bang, Bang

Bangs. If you've got them, flaunt them. If you are looking for the trendy haircut, you might want to tell your stylist to hook you up with these bold bangs. Eye-grazing hair is in and is making a bang...get it? I've done the thick straight-across bang and let me tell you, ladies you'll feel instantly a little more fabulous. Who doesn't want that?

Baby Got Buns

I'm not a girl who possesses a lot of patience. So, growing my hair out is a big struggle for me. Once it starts grazing my shoulders, I have it chopped. However, if I were to have long, flowing Kardashian locks, I would wear a sock bun on the reg. It's quick, it's easy and it makes you look put together. It would be my go-to for work, play and everything in between. It's an up-do without being too 1998 prom.
