New Fave DIY Moment: By Meg

One of my besties, Megan, told me she was having the hardest time finding a button up with a fun and bedazzled collar. So...she found a way to create one herself. She took a part of vintage-looking earrings and fastened one to each side of her collar. How brilliant? This is the perfect way to mix match one shirt for several unique outfits. Love it, Meg!

Happy Houndstooth and New Year

I recall, and might I add...very clearly...disliked houndstooth when I was a little girl. But, as my mother always told me, things are cyclical. And just like that...houndstooth is back and cuter than ever. This dress (from Target...get out, right?) is thick enough for a true northern winter outfit or worn alone for a southern "winter" day of 75 degrees. I paired this fab find with black tights, black pumps, a crisp white button up top and a tassel necklace. And of course, I topped off this outfit with red lips (NYX matte lip color). I'd suggest snagging this dress while it's available!

Totally Tortoise

Bauble Bar has some fabulous new tortoise necklaces that I was convinced I "needed"...which of course, means "wanted"...a lot. But, when my best friend and I were scouring TJ Maxx for home decor, I stumbled across this beauty. Bling and tortoise...perfection. And most importantly, another sassy necklace for my layering obsession.

Muah

My favorite thing in life (ok, perhaps this is a bit of an exaggeration) is not only layering but jazzing up ordinary pieces (like a sweatshirt) with a little sass. Luckily for me, Forever 21 already helped me with a little of the jazzing with the sequined pout (love). I would pair this combo with some ripped boyfriend jeans and heels or cute leather sneakers. Dress it up or dress it down, darlings.

Layer It Up

This white button up shirt is my best friend, my soulmate. I wear it with just about everything. Now that it's "winter" (in the 80's here today, however), it was time to add a little dimension to my work dresses. Throwing this white top under my dresses make it feel like an entirely new garment! Not to mention, these colors are quite perfect for the holiday season.

Funky Friday

It's fun to mix two of my favorite colors...not to mention throwing in some leopard print and layering. Holy fashion heaven. This J.Crew pink sweater is perfect for layering with my Forever 21 white collared shirt. These acid-washed teal pants (H&M) are cute as can be all rolled and ready to rock. I layered this necklace (from Charlotte Russe - $10) in my usual fashion. To throw in a curve ball and since everything was getting a bit "matchy matchy", I opted for these leopard flats. Voila - fun Friday outfit!

Layer It On

Even in the summer, I'm a huge fan of layering. It spices up plain sweaters, button-ups, t-shirts, etc. It's the perfect way to make a piece you wear all the time look completely new and different. I love this chambray shirt and honestly, I probably wear it too often. This striped t-shirt (Target - little girl's section...seriously) has some details of it's own but takes on a whole new life over the denim. I paired these layered tops with these fun watermelon Gap trousers, Target nude patent leather flats, a sock bun and this polka dot makeup bag-turned-clutch from Forever 21.

Lovely Layering

In order to wear some of the dresses/tops to work that I love, sometimes layering helps to make that possible. This purple dress, from Gap, is lightweight and perfect for work. However, why not add a little dimension to it by pairing it with a top? This top, from J.Crew, is the ultimate fix. The color and pattern and not over-powering and makes the dress even more office-appropiate. I topped this outfit off with some espadrilles from Aldo and some layered bracelets (vintage, Forever 21, Michael Kors).
